I value health and wellness not simply as part of my job but as an important part of my own spiritual journey.
I grew up in northern California. In my teen years, I developed some unhealthy patterns. Then, in my early 20s, I found myself in recovery for substance abuse. During that time, I was searching for my own path to mind-body wellness. Through my experience with alternative therapies and psychotherapy, I realized that the mind, body, and spirit are deeply intwined and healing comes from addressing each of these. As I came to understand that I could use my own journey to help others, the desire to be of service became my calling. The more I, myself, accept and integrate all the various parts of my life, the more I have to offer my clients and the world.
As I cultivated a deep appreciation, love, and curiosity for the mind-body connection and the mysteries of healing, I began studying bodywork and massage. I discovered, perhaps because of my own healing journey, that I had a knack for tuning into people’s bodies and figuring out what they needed. Empathy and compassion for others has allowed me to hold a safe place for my clients to work on their own healing, both physical and emotional.
I moved to Austin, Texas, in 1993, and began my work as a massage therapist in 1995. Modern Alchemy Healing Arts brings together my gifts of intuition and compassion, along with more than 25 years of practical experience in private practice, health spas, and corporate settings.
I am a lifelong learner who appreciates the journey. I work to deepen my own spiritual growth through daily meditation as well as through regular practice of Kundalini yoga. I especially enjoy playing the gong and crystal bowls as part of that practice.
For my next project, I am working on deepening my understanding of Ayurvedic medicine. I will begin the Clinical Ayurvedic Specialists Program at the California College of Ayurveda in the spring. As I work through this program, I will be able to add services and engage with my clients more holistically.
When I’m not working with clients or studying, you’ll find me drumming with the Drumsistas of Austin, traveling, hiking, or playing with my cats Freyja, Merlin, and Luna.
May the moon and stars pour their healing lights on you.
Deep peace of a quiet earth to you.
